Ultimately, this leads to Jin-Roh to its unenviable position in the present day; it's a truly wonderful story with great twists and gut punches as well as an honest hatred for the pursuit of glory under fascism, but a fascist glory hound doesn't have the self awareness to realise that to begin with.

By focusing only on the visual presentation of Kerberos as a unit of unstoppable human Terminators, they divert their eyes from its true nature as the mindless attack dog of an authoritarian regime that takes no prisoners and leaves no survivors, losing the image of a hungry pack of wolves entirely.

It might seem heavy-handed, but in an ironic twist the film is remembered for its aesthetic and gory action more than the story it's trying to tell, which in itself is an encapsulation of its themes in a way. Some folks would rather float at the story's surface rather than engage with it in full.

Jin-Roh is a fantastic movie. Its hopelessly bleak tone perfectly aids its anti-militaristic/nationalistic message, showing the foolishness of giving up your own self in service to some nebulous greater cause, a decision which causes Fuse to lose everything so he can live "where he belongs".

Today we have a classic Mamoru Oshii feature(TM)! Jin-Roh in popular culture is known as "that movie with the guys in gas masks and scary guns", but the truth is that it's much more than that and its public perception can instead be attributed to wilful ignorance on the part of many a viewer.

Tears in my eyes, man. An unthinkable amount of talent and manpower poured their blood, sweat and tears into this show to make it higher and higher quality right up until the end and managed to create something truly beautiful. They don't make shows this bad anymore, true garbage.

you know the people making this show had a real hard on for zeon because one of the objectively funniest characters in all UC gets this amazing mobile armour meanwhile the feds get the worst protagonist in the history of fiction and whatever unit 3 is supposed to be

Hyde was peacefully put to rest today after two long, hard weeks of battling with anorexia brought on from a hereditary kidney disease. We made the decision to let him pass on without any pain rather than suffer any longer, but it still hurts terribly even knowing that.
I'll miss him a lot.
