Yeah you could tell that the folks making it were leftist overall because actual leftist stuff was even included at all lol and maybe that's why the self-caricaturing bugged me. We get so little exposure to actual leftist ideas in entertainment, sell that shit!!

Also yeah the political convo options in particular sometimes felt like they were trying to convey a sentiment like "all political ideologies are a joke and you are a chump for believing in any of them because they are all silly, look how silly they are!" which depressed me

Yeah it is one of the only talky CRPGs where ambiguity & choice didn't feel ultimately kind of hollow (though tbh its tone/vibe isn't always my favorite, sometimes felt a little OOoooOOooo gritty dark)

And yeah playing a Bard is the way to go even if the fact that rolling a failure in conversation means You Are Fucked Now instead of having to deal with some interesting consequences

Yeah by comparison to Starfield it looks very nuanced lol but it still amazes me what video game designers' idea of moral ambiguity is in general

That's the thing tho the options always boil down to like 1. extra awful 2. awful 3. not awful, lol. Like in one of Starfield's main quests the options are like 1. align yourself with Space Mengele 2. Tattle on Space Mengele and become a super Space Cop
