Now the meow mix song is stuck in my head haha.

Such a great song. When I was a kid I thought this was about the fall of the Berlin wall and all the German teenagers finally meeting - I thought he was singing "Eastern boys and Western girls" - I didn't know anything about London haha. And clearly never read the title🙄

(I'm totally a weirdo, what am I saying, what a weird qualifier. Also my art projects are lichen mushrooms and seaweeds, so this is pretty in character. Oh - also amorphous attempts at crochet that go wrong when I get confused translating the righthanded instructions to lefthanded halfway through🙄.)

Not to be a weirdo, but I love this book so much I made salt and pepper shakers based on two mushrooms it helped me identify, Mycena aurantiidisca (yes I should have made the stem white) and Mycena amicta (which may not have been a conclusive ID but it sure seemed right)🐌

I wonder if the snails of South America are made nervous by wry smiles? 😏 Their little eyes bulging out, nervously...
November 11, 2025 at 6:38 AM
Its eyes are so beautiful! As are its decorations🙂

Smiley and keen!
November 11, 2025 at 6:16 AM
The big one is kind of smiley! I was looking at the other photo you just posted...does he love snails?
November 11, 2025 at 6:15 AM
haha I was wondering if it was a time lapse
November 11, 2025 at 5:43 AM
Oh lovely lovely! Ginko is the happiest yellow, it's fending off the dark for us a little longer💛
November 11, 2025 at 4:27 AM
Really interesting thread! Aside from iNaturalist, do you know if the results will be posted in an easily understood format somewhere for the public?
November 11, 2025 at 4:23 AM
Or for anyone on fixed income/minimus wage! So stupid, it's gonna cost so much more for those that get hospitalized without a vaccine.

Terrible. And so punitive for the most vulnerable. If the whole province strikes at this accumulation of wrongs being thrown at you, I'll be cheering you on!
November 11, 2025 at 3:29 AM
That sucks so much! How much are they charging? (I'm in BC, got mine last week, no charge, though I am paying for two other vaccines this month).

Sideview. The buds are really pretty, they have little pointy bumps that form a circle when closed, like a mini crown; you can see them on the outside of the petals.

I read about this first thing this morning, I was so furious I wanted to throw up. That they are shipping the Skeena's beautiful old growth forest to be burned in UK power plants as a subsidized "green fuel" is disgusting and absurd.

I did it wrong, I should have posted in the @franzanth.bsky.social replies, there's a cascade of lovely snails in that thread, if you like snails click on the original call to snailpost that I quoteposted to see the wonders including a snail of great personality carved from soap🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌

It looks like he's showing you a rueful grin, I didn't know horses could do that, heehee!
November 9, 2025 at 6:28 AM
Hang in there, branch! In fact, this photo would make a pretty fun actual curtain haha, especially if you whipped it open and it was spring outside.
November 9, 2025 at 1:17 AM
Oooo what a photo! Glad the branch held up to the weight of the snow☃️
