Well many Chinese historical dramas use Inner Mongolia, Hebei, or northwestern China for their large-scale battle scene. Maybe it was most convenient for them to film here and so that's why it doesn't seem to match with Guandu. Pic related kind of looks like the scene.

It's a Mahjong Riichi stick. You place it when you declare "Riichi" (meaning you are one tile away from victory with a closed hand). It's the physical representation of the 1000 pts you're wagering to declare riichi. There's a lot more to explain but there are videos and tutorials for that haha.
