Our #bere #barley plants keep growing well. The lack of rain the past few months is noticeable, even though we irrigate via garden hose.
I love the fresh colour and can't wait for them to head.

Looking for some #entomology help (maybe @plantpollinator.bsky.social knows?).
I noticed these little mounds with round holes in my garden (1st picture).
Today I saw a (solitary?) bee whizzing and crawling around (2nd picture).
Are the two connected?

A perfectly round little hole in a mound of earth. Some sort of insect burrow?? A (possibly) solitary bee crawling in the undergrowth of my garden.

The netting has come off last week on our #Bere #barley seedlings. The plants are growing happily.
Yesterday's rain was welcome after a long dry period.

#Monogram2025 has finished. It was a fantastic conference with outstanding speakers and great interactions. I am very grateful to the organisers for their hard work!! (Especially Ash!)

A very eloquent presentation of her work on met1 mutants in #wheat, which is now published in JXB.

Bere barley is germinating well. The netting is successfully keeping birds and slugs out.
Might need to thin the plants out a little bit later.

Spring is finally here, so with help from the kids I prepped a little patch in our garden to sow bere barley.
We put some protective mesh wire around to keep the birds out.
Big thanks to Malcolm for the seeds.
