There again were protesters cheering for federal employees at the metro exit today. I made eye contact with a woman walking next to me, we were both emotional, and she turned to me and said “this too shall pass.” Grasping for hope today.

All the hours I spent restoring this salvaged cast iron fireplace summer cover and now it’s the backdrop to some ABCs 😭❤️ #oldhouselove

I bought this letterpress print over a decade ago and it’s my forever mood. It hangs in the world’s tiniest powder room we created out of an existing closet space on our first floor. Before and after below. #oldhouselove

I love DC so much that we bought this home to put down real roots here. It’s helpful to remember that the corrupt people who have invaded our city are outnumbered by the sane citizens—and we will not be silent or go willingly. #oldhouselove

My house was built in 1870. Here are some fingerprints I discovered when sealing the large exposed brick wall of my main stairwell. I think of the people who left these prints daily, and I hope that in a small way honors them.

Every time I go thrifting, I pick up as many banned/challenged books as I can for my library. This is today’s haul.

In the peak of the pandemic, we bought this 150 year old historic row home. Luckily the previous owners left many of the original details untouched. As lovers of all things historic and vintage, we’re working to uncover and showcase our home’s good bones #oldhouselove
