Cherry blossom season is the best season in DC 🌸

There again were protesters cheering for federal employees at the metro exit today. I made eye contact with a woman walking next to me, we were both emotional, and she turned to me and said “this too shall pass.” Grasping for hope today.

I bought this letterpress print over a decade ago and it’s my forever mood. It hangs in the world’s tiniest powder room we created out of an existing closet space on our first floor. Before and after below. #oldhouselove

Sometimes I think about all the all the fires that have warmed this room, all the kids who have run across these pine floors, and all the iterations of this world that this house has seen over the past 150 years. #oldhouselove

Went for a mental health walk and other than a small gathering outside the DOL, the city was gray and quiet. Some evidence of earlier protests.

I love DC so much that we bought this home to put down real roots here. It’s helpful to remember that the corrupt people who have invaded our city are outnumbered by the sane citizens—and we will not be silent or go willingly. #oldhouselove

My house was built in 1870. Here are some fingerprints I discovered when sealing the large exposed brick wall of my main stairwell. I think of the people who left these prints daily, and I hope that in a small way honors them.

Every time I go thrifting, I pick up as many banned/challenged books as I can for my library. This is today’s haul.
