Here are two alternate responses to the arrival of winter. I'm more aligned with the orange cat.

Here is a picture from the moment I noticed that a rainbow from my window suncatcher had illuminated a landscape watercolour painted by my brother's widow's late mother, which felt like a gift. The black and white tree to its left was taken by my uncle on the hospital grounds the day I was born.
A wall with an oblong mirror and framed pictures on it and sun streaming in from off camera, illuminating the lower half of the wall. The rainbow is perfectly placed on the landscape painting. There is also a small wall lamp and an antique dresser with a triptych mirror, plants and a salt lamp on it.

I'm not posting much here because I'm struggling with/through some burnout (I mean aren't we all), so look for more intelligent thoughts from me later on, but in the meantime I did want to offer the community a peek at this freshly baked croissant.

Alberta's NDP caught me on the wrong day.
Screenshot: The rhetoric since the election has been intentionally fear-mongering and negative, and particularly right now as we are witnessing an active genocide in Palestine, is completely insensitive. "If this doesn’t give you nightmares, we don’t know what will"? The bombing of pediatric hospitals gives me nightmares, actually. The fact that you sidelined Marilyn North Peigan when she spoke the truth about the Stampede board, and the fact that your provincial secretary made the false statement that an Indigenous woman could be racist against the white establishment gives me heartburn. (Racism involves power relations; do you all need remedial anti-racism training?) The fact that your Ontario counterparts removed Sarah Jama for speaking up against the occupation of Palestine gives me hives. The ostensible progressive party cozying up to power rather than defending the marginalized gives me daymares. This, as the kids say, ain't it.
