This can often happen because it’s tough for an author to summarize and judge their own work effectively. So they may have suggested in the query it would be one thing that it’s truly not in the long run.

I’ve passed on just a few pages, and I’ve passed after 50. For me, if I request more than the sample, it’s because I see promise in the premise and the writing style. But if I pass after 50 pages, it’s because the pacing is off, the voice has shifted, and it’s no longer what I had hoped it would be.

Hi Júlia! I was curious about it as well for that reason. I like magical realism and grounded speculative and your pitch makes me think of Addie LaRue a bit. If it’s high fantasy, then probably not, but if it’s grounded in the real world I’d love to see it.
