And are generally not funded by the state or health insurance providers.

Yeah but they're considered "cosmetic"

For HRT that works, but I don't think "I just want it" is enough to convince medical boards to fund top surgery or ffs.

All of this isn't to dismiss your criticism of "medical necessity" as a framework, I just do not know of a better option.

(I mention these cus girls from those places are very skeptical of "community lead" care).

Nor do I think we'll have resources at our disposal to fund expensive, specialist surgeries like girl's FFS... without relying on state/insurance company's recognition of such things as a "medical necessity"

While I do think transition resources ought to be done by trans, for trans people- that's not exactly helpful for girls stuck in like Bangor, rural Eastern Europe or other places where "the trans community" doesn't really exist.
January 28, 2025 at 1:51 PM
Now I know "abolish the state, abolish capitalism abolis-" but it's not exactly helpful to disguard all reform, especially considering, for some people, lack of the resources to transition will mean they never get to live to see "The Revolution".

Not trying to concern troll, just genuinely cannot think of an answer:

What would constitute an alternative to "medical necessity" as a framework to convince the (structurally cis-centric) public sector to fund people's transitions?
