aha! Amazing. That's exactly the stretch I thought it was - I was looking at a photo taken here, thinking it must be around there somewhere :-)
It's such a long, diverse river, but bits of it are really firmly stuck in my head!

Exhausted but buzzing with ideas and energy after the Research Schools National Conference. So much to think about and great to catch up with colleagues and share ideas. Also enjoyed delivering session with Susi and Simon about collaboration and comms, including all the things I've learnt from Susi!

What a lovely bunch of people!
(Some of the team from today are missing as they left before we took the photos)
I'm so lucky to swim with this lot :-)

(I think the second photos is actually my favourite!)

Not bad. No PBs, two medals by default, but really enjoyed it and it's good to race again after a year of injuries.

Last swim session before Norfolk Masters on Saturday. Managed a 38 dead 50 free after a 50 fly in the midst of a knackered evening.
Also some pretty good dives... and then one parallel one that soaked the people in the back row of the gallery! ;-)
Ah well .. still here...

Downloading some photos, so we can talk about our Evidence to Life day at our @theeef.bsky.social regional meeting on Wednesday.
This was such a fab event, with @norfolkrs.bsky.social and East Cambs Evidence Network bringing together EY/KS1 teachers and leaders to reflect on practice with colleagues

Also, thanks so much to everyone for being so welcoming, tolerant and accommodating with these two.
I couldn't have attended #CogSciSci otherwise.

I now have to find a way to switch off and sleep, because I'm swimming at 6am tomorrow!
(that should help dissipate the adrenaline!)

This is truly one of the most passionate, funny and practical talks I've heard in ages.
Just because you *can* overcome microbarriers, it doesn't mean you should (or want to!)
Similar to @sendmattersuk.bsky.social automatic door analogy

Bill reminding us that it is our responsibility to teach *all* our pupils well - this will support those that (for whatever reason) find school harder to access than the person sat next to them
This is a really powerful talk - Bill isn't pulling any punches

The reality of moving from 1ry to 2ry for pupils with SEND
Timetabling in 2ry school means that one child might have 36 different teachers (yes! This is a real life example).
Also, teachers might see pupils for an hour/fortnight, but they do have to know them!

Now hearing from @drwilkinsonsci.bsky.social about his first year as a SENDCo
Reminding us that we need to ensure *all pupils* progress and learn in our classes

We're now unpicking the memory diagram in the @theeef.bsky.social Cog Sci review
Great talks from @drgarethbates.bsky.social to start the day at #CogSciSci
May 30, 2025 at 9:23 AM
We're now questioning Dunlosky! 🫢😲
I'm really enjoying this #CogSciSci talk from @drgarethbates.bsky.social where he is (quite rightly) getting us to question all these things without actually rubbishing them (although he did describe one table as dodgy 😏)
May 30, 2025 at 9:11 AM
A fascinating keynote to start the day at #cogscisci from @drgarethbates.bsky.social
He argues that now is the right time to push back a bit and dig underneath (and dissect) the science of learning
Looking in detail at Ebbinghaus and that famous curve (which actually wasn't a curve)

Thank you @mrarobbins.bsky.social for taking a moment to remember Dawn Cox at the start of #CogSciSci
Live life to the full...

If you're at #CogSciSci tomorrow, do consider coming along to my talk on Embodied Cognition, and what it looks like in the Science Classroom.
It's also about elephants, rockets, ASMR and "buono!"
Be interested to hear your thoughts & ideas -lots of interest in this in @theeef.bsky.social RSN session

One lovely thing that I get to do every now and then is present @rsc.org Education awards to the brilliant winners.
Yesterday, I was lucky enough to present @drjoscience.bsky.social with her award for Excellence in Primary Science at the RI after watching her fabulous session.
Congratulations, Jo!

When I do my @cogscisci.bsky.social talk on Friday, I'm going to be especially remembering the shining light in the front row, at the very first meeting we held.
Dawn wasn't a Science teacher, but she was a dedicated teacher who constantly wanted to learn more and share with others.
Life is precious
May 28, 2025 at 10:08 AM
On our way to see @drjoscience.bsky.social do her thing at the RI before she receives her @rsc.org medal for Excellence in Primary Education.
We were initially foiled by a cancelled train, but we're now on our way. Really looking forward to it!

Thanks also to Susi, without whom none of this would've happened.

Fabulous day today bringing together EY and KS1 leaders from Fenland to listen, learn, reflect and collaborate as part of our @theeef.bsky.social Great Talking partnership.
Thanks to @juliangrenier.bsky.social @nicolacherry.bsky.social Sam Brackenbury, Anne Hopkins for some great talks and workshops

We're a bit snowed in!
Hoping to get out by next week...

Very blooming lucky. And grateful

10 years ago, we were at the first ever Eaton Junior parkrun. My (then) 6 year old ran it in 11.52.
Today, my (now) 11 year old ran it in 11.48!
What a brilliant event - amazing it's still going, and still so popular. Many of the runners there today wouldn't have been born when it started!
