Review - ****

Great book. Brilliant writing. This is the 2nd book which I have read and I have thoroughly enjoyed this one too.

A must read

The book sometimes feels repetitive and too much dialogue is present in narrating the same incident multiple times between characters. There are some moments in the book which lack atmospheric buildup.

Great book. The characterization of every character is perfect. The footnotes and epilogue are really the heart of the book. It enhances every moment. Thoroughly enjoyed reading the book.

The only part which I didn't like is that the book has a very heavy use of baseball as a metaphor and also features heavily in the plot. There are detailed descriptions of the players and their stats. Any non-baseball lover won't be able to follow up with the descriptions.

There's no beginning or a chronology in the examples given or a general flow of the chapters. It's a good book if you need to have a new perspective on the mythology book called Mahabharata.

Rating : 3.5/5

Downside which I found. Reading the book, you need to have a good knowledge of the Mahabharata and their characters in order to keep the explanation relevant and interesting. It will also give a context to the concept being discussed.

Good concepts and thought provoking answers too. This book reads like an academic paper. It would have been better for the author to have better prose and chapter classification into the book.

Brilliant book on the concept of the need of Mahabharata. Why is it still relevant? Who is the actual main character or the protagonist of the story? How has Vyasa the author weaved different aspects of our history and mythology of a nation?
