New blog post: I wanted to see what an AI podcast co-host would be like. This was my first time trying it out using LiveKit and OpenAI. I had some technical difficulties with using the playground, so the real chat starts at around 4:50. https://nikema.dev/post/67

New blog post: I just spent a lot of credits adding livestreaming to this site using Mux. I might write a blog post about how I would approach this differently with what I know now.

been thinking about this for a day and a half

would anyone be interested in a video tutorial on how to setup your own paid or unpaid newsletter via wordpress, a free and open source program thats not substack or patreon?
it doesn't have to

there are foss solutions that can provide alternatives to these vc-funded platforms, but widespread user education doesn't exist yet

i've been seeing a lot of talk about users starting their own wordpress site and rebuilding communities using free plugins for paypal or stripe

creating community is hard bc not everyone wants to use a discord but community is found in so many other places

-responding to things on social media
-live stream comments
-in person events
-sharing of content with your thoughts

I just realized that the posts coming from pipe dream had incorrect links. I had to fix my RSS feed and it made a bunch of new posts here.

Learn to Code. Still.

Do it with the minimum student loan debt possible.

* Yes, it is extremely hard to get an entry level CompSci job these days
* Yes, there is oversupply of CompSci grads
* Yes, companies love layoffs these days. Job security is not what it was
* Yes, the anti-DEI bros are here
"Learn to Code" Backfires Spectacularly as Comp-Sci Majors Suddenly Have Sky-High Unemployment
It looks like the "learn to code" push is backfiring spectacularly for those who majored in computer science in college.

Today I learned about Replicate. I'm going to use it to create a video with the Google veo model. I have to think about what I want to create first because it's pretty expensive.
