The U.S. and other United Nations forces fought a war in the early 50’s to free South Korea after invasion by North Korea then the Chinese army. General MacArthur got a bit enthusiastic and tried to conquer the north but was restrained by the sitting president avoiding an all out war with China

Surely it is not GDPR that is the issue, this only covers the need to ask for permission to hold people’s personal data and applies to any person who resides in the UK or Europe.
