Time to post some self-introduction to leave it pinned!
I'm Angel, a.k.a. Nihongadas, a Spanish guy in Tokyo since 2018 🇯🇵
I love Japanese culture, history, and teaching what I learn 😁
I may post in English, Spanish or Japanese, sorry for the chaos, and welcome! ❤️
First time I see so many yojijukugo (4-kanji compound) not as single examples but within a common narrative 😲

Don't know if I'll ever get the Switch 2, but TBH this is hands down my main reason to do it.
I LOVED every single Metroid Prime (especially the 1st one), and I'm truly looking forward to this one!
I'm still Team September for Metroid Prime 4.

Call me optimistic, but I think Nintendo has something else planned for November.

Today's my 7th year in Japan! And I thought I was coming here for a year...😅

Able to finish reading my first scientific paper in Japanese! Not something that says わかりやすい, not something that is 中学校向け, a scientific paper!
Little things to be a bit more proud of myself, hope I can make it a habit! 😅

Checking how much money left I have in my Suica, and immediately after thinking "wow, that number is the same year of the Namamugi Incident".
Yep, my intrusive thoughts are more often than not quite nerdy 😅

Leaving aside my clients for today -a lovely family from Spain who gave me a great time on my tour-, today I'm finding quite a bunch of assh*les who can't apparently look at their surroundings. Like people running to catch seats on a train whatever it takes.

I just learned that 不毛 (lit. "No fur/hair") can be used to refer to pointless or fruitless discussions.
The interesting thing is, in Spanish we have a similar expression, "no tener pelos en la lengua" (not to have hairs on your tongue), but it refers instead to speak one's mind frankly 👀

Vaya día de mierda me ha tocado para hacer ruta, todo el día sin parar de llover 😅 esperemos que vaya bien!

「私は、君とは違って、周りに頼らないと自分を作れない人間だったから」

As a shy person, sometimes jealous of how easy is to get along with other people from extroverts, I never heard this kind of approach from the extroverts before.

Extroverts admiring introverts? Does that even happen? 🤔😆

Expresión real que acabo de aprender en japonés y sigo flipando 😆 Si queréis "seguir los pasos de alguien" (por regla general, alguien sabio o así), podéis decir 君の爪の垢を煎じて飲みたい, lit. "Quiero hervir la suciedad de tus uñas y bebérmela".

Admiración en estado puro 😂

Anybody else is watching Jin? (A neurosurgeon who unwillingly travels to the late Edo period and tries to save people with the means of that time while searching for a way to go back home)

I'm really enjoying it! (Except for a damn fetus appearing each episode, it's unreal and disgusting 😅)

I managed to complete my personal Bloganuary challenge! Every day, a new post in Japanese, most of them handwritten! ✍️
I don't share it too much because it's not very interesting content, just for the sake of practice, but it was worth it! 💪🏻

Today I went to the supermarket to buy some ginger, but it looks like it was already sold out.
まあ、しょうがない!

A zoo in Sendai lets an otaria seal write the 書き初め (first writing of the year) with the kanji related to this year's zodiac sign: 巳 (snake 🐍).

A dad is filmed laughing because "[the otaria] can write better than his child".
Better than me, too! 😆

Mejor lectura del año

Peor lectura del año (aún sin terminar, pero pinta que así será)

(Y lo curioso es que son del mismo autor)

金 was also Kanji of the Year in 2021.
Last year it was 税 (taxes).
Somehow I can see Japan's concern with money 💰
The people have spoken: The Kanji of the Year for 2024 is 金 (kin, kane), meaning money or gold - a character reflecting a range of topics from the Olympics to the LDP's embarrassing political slush fund scandal. Learn what other characters also made the news below.
2024 Kanji of The Year Is, Once Again, All About Money - Unseen Japan
Kin (金) repeats its appearance as the 2024 Kanji of the Year thanks to the Olympics and political scandals.

Sometimes I try writing in Japanese, just for the sake of practicing, including English and Spanish translations afterwards. If you want to read it, feel free!

Just finished Superliminal! Loved the mechanics and story (Portal or Stanley's Parable fans will definitely enjoy it), and the ending has one of the most wholesome and meaningful speeches I've ever heard.
You can watch it here, but I recommend you to try the game first:

Interesting expression I've just learned: 毒をくらわば皿まで, "once you've commited a crime, commit to it"

Literally means "if you've eaten poison, [lick] the plate".

At first I wanted to believe it was an equivalent of my lovely Spanish expression, "para lo que me queda en el convento, me cago dentro"

- The kanji for "sensitivity" is a bit hard, but I think I know how to pronounce it.
- 感受性?

Passing through Ichigaya I found this small but very interesting space dedicated to the walls of the Edo Castle that used to be here, and I had to stop 🏯
Although I rather not say too much at the moment, I will only say I hope I'm asked to come more often around here in the near future 🤞🏻
