I "may" kinda believe in astrology for like, this month only.

Lots of Portuguese historic references but hopefully it's understandable!
“There are moments that make history. Can anyone imagine our 25th of April without Carnations? Because the carnations were a strike of chance. The date of the Revolution was planned; the itineraries were planned, the passwords were planned, the songs were planned, but the carnations were not. If the owner of the restaurant where Celeste Caeiro worked at hadn’t chosen red carnations to decorate the one year anniversary of his establishment; if he had not chosen to keep the restaurant closed, due to the revolution; if Celeste Caeiro hadn’t gone to pick up the carnations so they wouldn’t go to waste; if she hadn’t given one of the carnations to a soldier who had asked her for a cigarette; if the soldier hadn’t put the carnation in the barrel of his rifle - our April Revolution would not have been the Carnation Revolution. By chance, Celeste Caeiro transformed our most beautiful revolution into the Carnation Revolution and transformed this flower into the symbol of Freedom. It was by chance,but it wasn’t a coincidence. And it wasn’t a coincidence because Celeste Caeiro was aware of the moment she was living in. She was aware of what Portugal was, and what it had suffered in 48 years of dictatorship. She knew what that morning on the 25th of April meant for the country. And she wasn’t alone in understanding the meaning of the day. The thousands of people who joined the military and, against all advice, filled the streets of Lisbon; they also knew they were living an extraordinary moment. One that would change the country forever. And so they were there, creating that moment. This is the moment to make our history. With you, with me, with Us. And you do not need to be as fearless as Salgueiro Maia or our April Captains; you don’t need to be as creative as Zeca Afoso or Maria Teresa Horta. But you can do a gesture as simple as Celeste Caeiro’s. A simple gesture that changes everything. Or, something as simple as the thousands of people who, 50 years ago, left their homes to go vote. A gesture that is so simple to perform, but that cost so much to earn. A gesture that was never taken away, and - in what it may depend on us - will never be taken away. Vote as if our life and our freedom depend on it, because - in truth - they do.

On the 51st Anniversary of our Revolution for freedom, and on the 50th Anniversary of our first free election, one of our parliamentary leaders hit it on the nose with her speech.
