Which, fine, world's on fire & we're all behind on email. But w/no artist credited on the site other than cover "design" by the executive publisher herself & some graphic elements like weird, blurry hands...I'm not loving the look of this one. 2/

seems utterly fake that it's December already (time is a fiction), but I guess I should put up my 2024 awards eligibility post! I published four speculative fiction stories this year, 3 flash and 1 longer, all four free to read online, + two poems. Links & descriptions in the thread below.

so we found an abandoned kitten in july right before the chicago tornadoes; after weeks & weeks of INSISTING we wouldn't keep her, our cat milo really said "oh, you thought?????" and, well.

readers, we're keeping the kitten.

so our cat stayed with my in-laws while we moved & they've already bought him a special, better plate to eat off & are planning to build him a lawn box on the screened porch so he can experience grass. this is the face of a cat who's realized he's the only grandchild

Olga Ravn's "The Employees" (2020, transl. by Martin Aitken) making a STRONG bid for my top five books read this year, absolutely incredible

"It's a dangerous thing for an organization not to be sure which of the objects in its custody may be considered to be living."

Tananarive Due's The Reformatory IS horror: gripping, masterfully paced, terrifying & next to true. stayed up all night reading until I almost dropped the book on my face.

happy new year to all! here are some favorite pictures I took in 2023 of the world's least brain cell-possessed cat

this was almost a negligibility post because I left it so late, but: I published four short stories this year, and I'd be very thankful if they were considered as part of your end-of-year award eligibility reading! more details and links in the thread below~

this is milo's kitchen supervision box. when he feels his food is not being adequately prepared, he walks over & sits in this box to keep a stern, disappointed eye on the proceedings

finally read The Saint of Bright Doors by @vajra.me & will be thinking about it for a long time - multilayered & clever & so good I had to fight the cat to be the first to get my greedy little paws on it!

had a great time talking to the folks of @electricsheepsf.bsky.social about my writing this morning, even if I was mostly just rambling my feelings about noir! thanks for having me!

probably should do an intro post at some point, but for now just imagine me peering out of the multiple social media accounts I'm scrambling to juggle (feat. my unimpressed in-house editor, smilodon "milo" the cat)
