A lot has happened since the last update here, Cargo can now be moved, there is a notion of economy, some use ability from the early feedback, and now a basic main menu scene is taking shape.

After routing and pathfinding got implimented it was time to move on to the next milestone, trains stats : this invulved redoing all inital calculations for power to SI and then added acceleration. Catch me if you can!

Double Update time. After the basic design of the engines was running we movced on with setting up a actual train and its routes.

The idea is to have routes like Transport Fewer 2 and a list of trains per route, and how many of each.

Update time, After the research tree got implimented and all the data moved out of the game in spreadsheets for easy edits. we continued to one main feature of the game, Engine spec manipulations, by adjusting wheel size, engine size.

It has been a while, but there is some progress, I got to create my first game dev tool today, a sprite generator, for generating all the thumbnail for the rollingstock making the tech tree 10x better but still hideous 😄

performance testing. never to early to see how your game is doing.

so just for fun i decided to see how the game was running, so i placed some track and started spawning in trains. got to 269 before the fps started dropping.

Okay now we are getting somewhere, a train that follows a piece of track, also starting to see some of the voxel models make its way in the game, that is a joy.

Okay - i used to say math was not important for developing a piece of software. Until I tried to lay a path and calculate in and out vectors, then i realized the importance and that i had to relearn it all. Trigonometry is a pain. 😂

i havent had much time to work today but i do have a little thing to show, i learned how to put custom icons on nodes in Godot
So now there is a track icon in the Track scene instead of the default circle. Nice!

sometimes the job well done is just learning to get more organized 🙂

sometimes it is the little things, like having a good UI to quickly visualize where your stuff is, so Colored folders is now part of my workflow.

To get started with #Godot I follow this ARPG tutorial series www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAbG...
i can highly recommend it, it helped a lot getting started in understanding how Godot works, even though it was made for 3.2 the top comments helps with translation.

10/10 would code again.

Currently playing about in #Godot, trying to workshop if I can make my game in that engine instead of UE5, firts piece of track is layed and the result looks promissing so far.
