A generation or two ago the BBC didn’t have any competition except ITV. It could indulge more niche programming. Now it is insecure and risk averse, concerned for its survival and so very attuned to being ‘relevant’, inclined to appeal to political populism and online right-wing batshittery.

I suppose it was deliberate by Johnson, the Telegraph etc. to make this putsch on the BBC about Trump. They know Starmer‘s not going to defend the Beeb and risk upsetting Trump.

I haven’t got a TV anymore because I don’t want to pay the licence fee.
