BC and Alberta are highest-cost producers in a race to the bottom. Energy security is not the same as daily energy. Energy security has orders of magnitude smaller gas volume tie-up than gas for daily energy. Japan will buy the cheapest gas for daily use. Hedging all of demand gets too expensive.

Implies the distressed out there are overspending, can’t budget nor live within means, too much car, travel, and tchotchkes 🤔? If so whose fault they’re aspiring to lives designed for them by power and rent-seeking influence operations? Self-awareness is key.

Spectacular solar gains on a cold November day in Pemberton. That’s free heat in winter, all the better if your house has good insulation to hold it in a long time. We have 44R in the walls and 75R in the roof. In summer the overhang completely shades these windows from the sun.

Sitting pretty in our Step 5 house I designed and built in Pemberton BC, >3kW of cooling handling 2,000ft2 no prob. Neighbour houses, all new, hotter than hell, they “didn’t want to spend the money” but their homes are next to uninhabitable with all those big view windows…
