It's hard to overstate how fundamental his work is to the field of linguistics and speech pathology, though.

People will see much more ballroom.

Is this company just going to keep pivoting to other things it can't do?
January 30, 2026 at 2:35 AM
House is constantly wrong while being racist and sexist until someone in Act 3 literally tells him the answer and he says "I KNOW THE ANSWER!" like a dick before everyone says "You're a genius and I suck. Here's more drugs."

No, most companies are pretty clear to investors what their goals are and what they're trying to accomplish with it.

If a company is asking for hundreds of billions of dollars and you ask what they're doing with it and they say "idk hiring folks?" then they're treading water.
January 29, 2026 at 3:02 AM
This company can't name a single thing it's doing for its "R&D" and neither can you.
If a company says it's long on R&D and the only thing they've told investors is "We're gonna hire some people" then they are treading water.

Don't take a corporate press release at face value.

I think she thinks her job is to defend Israel at all costs.
It's the only think she's ever done and the only thing she thinks has any value.

I'm asking *specifically* about Folding Airplanes. Where is *that company* and what specifically is it doing in its research besides hiring people?
January 29, 2026 at 2:57 AM
How do you know that Folding Airplanes is at this benchmark and what are they doing to reach the next one?
January 29, 2026 at 2:55 AM
I've spent 15 years hearing how this thing was going to replace the dollar and become the future and now it's just an unregulated commodity that doesn't actually do anything.
January 29, 2026 at 2:53 AM
Which benchmark are they at and which benchmark are they trying to beat?
January 29, 2026 at 2:52 AM
Saying "we're hiring people and are going to do new training" is not a research goal. It's PR gibberish.
They're not actually saying what they're doing. They're just giving corporate speak because they don't actually have any research they *can* do because AI has plateaued.

You're the ICE of Baulder's Gate.
January 29, 2026 at 2:48 AM
Their own stated goal is simply to hire "innovators" and hope they come up with something.
They have no goals towards any specific R&D.
As AI is currently plateaued at what it can do, this innovation can only come from hardware and infrastructure increases:

All evidence suggests that's exactly what's happening.
All PR from the company says otherwise.
Which one of those is for rubes, do you think?
January 28, 2026 at 10:52 PM
"We hope someone makes better chips and data centers we can buy" is not R&D.

Yes, you need an Electric Light Orchestra of at least 2500.

We'd probably be able to get him to agree to universal healthcare in exchange for funding the ballroom.

Saudi Arabia must build a giant, robotic Peter O'Toole, not because it is easy, but because it is hard.
