Talking about the Rules of War legitimises what is illegitimate. There is no « war » except in the administration‘sperversion of language. This is quite simply murder

Years ago, I had a pupil who peppered a draft opinion with American and Commonwealth authorities ( some from very minor jurisdictions) but had no idea that he had done so - he appeared to be advising out of a textbook index. A law degree and Bar Finals hadn’t taught him very much, it seemed

Terrible mistake skipping The Pickwick Papers. It’s hilarious

Penzance to Poole would be bizarre - at both ends of the region. But at least Devon and Cornwall wouldn’t be shackled to Bristol which is the usual and equally unworkable design (says a Devonian born in a house looking out over Cornwall)

Make sure the jam goes on first!

And to my eye, Farage comes across as phony. Tries a little too hard in his choice of garb other than a business suit, for example. Looks like it’s straight out of the House of Bruar catalogue when nobody except him dresses like that in real life

Entirely so. And the fact that they live in the past.

I remember this sort of thing from school circa 60 years ago.Small = « Jewish » = too mean to buy a bigger one. Obviously an antisemitic trope but, to all of our shame, very prevalent then

I always thought it went back to Disraeli but it probably wasn’t his originally either

And you would have imagined that, given his visceral enmity towards the EU , he might have thought Edward Heath had rather out-done Kier Starmer’s rather limited efforts so far

I rather like the idea of new arrangements for « touring munitions ». Likely to go off with a bang.

(Yes I know it’s probably bloody autocorrect)

What a twit. What does he think happens in Employment Tribunals day in, day out, throughout the country? Dozens of discrimination cases every day. « Obscure » ? Unbelievably ignorant which makes anything else he says on the subject pretty unreliable
April 18, 2025 at 4:43 PM
« Quotas »?? Where on earth does he get that from? There is nothing like that in the UK. Just a copy and paste from some American right wing nutter?
March 11, 2025 at 11:11 AM
Yes, but….. « paid his debt to society »? « Rehabilitation »? It was quite a long time ago, on the scale of Posh George’s lifetime. It doesn’t make him a leper for life, surely? ( BTW, detest everything about Farage otherwise)

What a splendid autocorrect! The mind boggles

Died in his bed after one of the longest reigns ( if not the longest) in history

I know it’s a mistake to respond to this sort of thing but a quick trip to Wikipedia shows that the headline point simply isn’t true. Apart from La Fayette and one long forgotten general who was at Ramilles, out of 79 warships. The past may have been different, of course

Berkeley Hunt. Otherwise the rhyming slang doesn’t work

Isn’t it completely comic that he thought that there was any advantage to be gained from knowing Prince ANDREW,of all people?

And who other than a complete phoney would wear all that kit and carry a rolled up umbrella?

I’m so glad you asked. I’ve been wondering for ages. Gaming terms might just as well be in Sanskrit for an old git like me…Typical of Dom to try to be down with the kids (if I can use a phrase which is probably miles out of date)

I remember a cartoon somewhere of two doctors talking. One said “I don’t think I’ve ever killed anyone but I’m not so sure about my receptionist”

I read it that the Tories can have lots of mad policies too. Plus ça change….

Blast! Where does autocorrect get the word “Keebler” from? It’s not even a word ! (Is it?)
November 9, 2023 at 6:36 PM
Rotten Christine Keebler impression
