Sounds like how I felt about GtD's Crimson Peak. And Pinocchio. Sumptuous, - stunning, even-, art design, but way to long, fairly hollow, emotionally & thematically. I'd like to see GdT challenge himself with something otherthan pretty pictures.

Departures is great. I've yet to be disappointed by *anything* by Hirokazu Kore-eda, too.

This, however, I agree on wholeheartedly. Can't stand QT, and as much as I recognize his talent, this movie, and everything I've seen of his since JB, is utter toss.

Good write up, even if I don't agree w/everything. I've not seen it since it came out, but I remember it as a lot of what you say, paranoid, inconsistent etc, but on purpose. Or at least what seemed to be on purpose, to me; presenting a mish-mash of conspiracy theories, even if they don't add up.
