What sells it for me is how the creases in her gown match the lines of the strings.

My mother left Germany in 1936. Late in her life she told me the nightmares she had of the thud of jackboots on her porch…hiding in the basement while her father managed to stall or bribe the SS. I can only imagine her reaction to this,in America, her adopted country, in Illinois, her adopted state.

It was very early morning in the summer. There were maybe 6 people spread out around the park. Oddly quiet. I PS’d out the one or two people who were visible in frame.
