His family and estate were in CT, so it would have been a big sacrifice for him to up and leave, and he felt he could do more good by staying. As a known Loyalist, he could be a bridge to other Loyalists to keep them in the fold and prevent the Church from splitting.

Seabury was a Loyalist but a pragmatic one. He didn’t have the luxury of emigration and he also had a strong sense of duty to the church. There was a risk that Anglicanism could die out or could be viewed as an enemy of the new of the new government. So he made peace with the new civil authority.

I generally consider myself catholic but I also affirm salvation by grace alone and 2 Dominical sacraments.

Veterans Day is an American thing because we already had Memorial Day in May from our Civil War to honor the dead. 11/11 was originally Armistice Day here too but it was changed to Veterans Day after WW2.

As an incurable introvert, the peace was always full of anxiety for me. In the Emergency, we replaced handshakes with a vague “sign of peace from a distance” and we have never reverted to the pre-Plague status quo. I’m OK with that.

Traditional in my personal use. My parish for reasons unknown to me is thoroughly Rite II in all parameters.
