Chart by OpenAI about ChatGPT5.1, launched today (Nov 12th 2025 A.D.). Title of chart reads "GPT-5.1 spends less time on easy tasks, and more time on hard tasks". But the bar graph shows this is not true! The peach colored bars represent GPT-5 (Standard), and the pink ones represent GPT-5.1 (Standard). There is no X axis, so these numbers are nonsense. The Y graph is labeled with just percentages for GPT-5.1 (Standard), meaning 5.0 has no numbers for reference. The Y axis data is as follows: 10th percentile: -57% 30th percentile: -31% 50th percetile: -0% (negative is neither negative nor positive, Sam) 70th percentile: +21% 90th percentile: +71% Text at the bottom for the Y axis reads "# of model-generated tokens per response". The fact that there are more tokens overall means there are more tokens per response beyond the 50th percentile. So even in this awful lie chart, they are using more tokens per response!

This is a real danger to vibe coding: typosquatting. The AI mistakes a real async crate, like Tokio, for something with async in the name, created as malware.

Summary On September 24th, the crates.io team was notified by Kirill Boychenko from the Socket Threat Research Team of two malicious crates which were actively searching file contents for Etherum private keys, Solana private keys, and arbitrary byte arrays for exfiltration. These crates were: faster_log - Published on May 25th, 2025, downloaded 7181 times async_println - Published on May 25th, 2025, downloaded 1243 times The malicious code was executed at runtime, when running or testing a project depending on them. Notably, they did not execute any malicious code at build time. Except for their malicious payload, these crates copied the source code, features, and documentation of legitimate crates, using a similiar name to them (a case of typosquatting).
