Meet Nic! Nic is a first-year student at Motostoke College. She is very anxious and prefers to be left alone most of the time for her to do her own research. Many other students, especially André, find her to be peculiar, and is thus subject to teasing and bullying. Still, she is very passionate about her own research and aims to be an excellent instructor or professor. Ace Meza Tag: Cramorant Nic's Cramorant, affectionately nicknamed Lester, was discovered by her as one of the last Pokémon in a box of free Meza Tags left behind by an unknown Trainer. Seeing how his abandonment reminds her of herself, she took him in as her first Pokémon and has since faced every challenge withhim by her side. Meet André! André is a second-year student at Motostoke College. He is one of the most popular students in the school despite his actions towards Nic. After Nic obtained Lester, her Cramorant, he continued to challenge her to unnecessary Meza Tag Battles just to see them both get beaten up by him and his team of Star and Superstar Pokémon. What he doesn't realize is that strength alone does not make him a good Meza Tag Trainer. Ace Meza Tag: Inteleon André's Inteleon is his strongest Pokémon to date. He had been André's partner since André was just a child and has never left his side since. Despite this, there's a part of Inteleon that secretly feels sorry for Nic's Cramorant... Meza Tags in Chapter:Almach - How They Work Pokémon that are currently stored in Pokéballs can be transferred onto lighter physical tags known as Meza Tags. A Pokémon cannot stay in both a Pokéball and a Meza Tag, but they can switch from both capture devices from time to time. Trainers can store Meza Tags in specially designed storage boxes or pockets on their clothing or belts, which makes them easier to carry compared to Pokéballs... but easier to lose due to their small size. A Meza Tag displays the physical appearance of the stored Pokémon and its strength and HP on one side, and the stats of a Pokémon as well as its attacks on the other side. The Pokémon on the Meza Tag is only allowed to have one or two moves as its moveset due to how Meza Tag Battles work, so Trainers have to select the moves (and gimmicks, if applicable) of their Pokémon wisely before transferring them onto a Meza Tag of their choice! In addition to normal Meza Tags, Trainers can also obtain limited Star and Superstar Meza Tags at high prices or from special events, which are able to increase the strength and HP of any Pokémon as well as allow them to keep one of their power-ups (Mega Evolution, Dynamax or Terastallization) when battling. Thus, these tags, especially Superstar Meza Tags, are sought after by many elite Trainers. Meza Tag Battling - How it Works In "Chapter:Almach", Meza Tag Battling happens physically (and does not happen on arcade machines because that would be boring). Meza Tag Trainers must equip a Meza Band in order to unleash Pokémon stored in Meza Tags. A typical Meza Band consists of three Meza Tag slots and a button. (Special Meza Bands have been designed for physically disabled Trainers.) A Meza Tag Battle only lasts for three turns. Trainers can have up to four Meza Tags in hand per battle - three equipped on the Meza Band and one as a "spare" in case one Pokémon faints. They can select one of their Pokémon to attack per turn, but the same Pokémon cannot attack in the next round. The button on the Meza Band allows the player to stop the holographic roulette that determines their attack power. Similar to 6-star EX sync moves in Pokémon Masters EX, every attack deals damage to all the Pokémon that are equipped on the opponent's Meza Band. The Trainer with the least Pokémon fainted on their side wins. If all of a Trainer's Pokémon faint, the Trainer automatically loses. If both sides are tied, another battle will usually be conducted unless a Trainer forfeits.

Pokémon Mezastar OC AU - Chapter:Almach information! (1/2)

- So, what even is Pokémon Mezastar? If you don't know anything about Pokémon Mezastar, you're definitely not alone as it's an arcade game that has only been released in some parts of Asia! It was released in Japan in 2020, but it has been replaced by another arcade game called Pokémon Frienda since 2024. For other regions that currently have it, it was released quite recently in April 2025! Pokémon Mezastar involves the usage of physical tags known as Meza Tags. Each tag has a Pokémon on it that ranges from two to six stars according to their strength. 5-star Pokémon are known as Star Pokémon and 6-star Pokémon are known as Superstar Pokémon. Star and Superstar Pokémon may be able to use gimmicks such as 2-Moves, Dynamax/Gigantamax or Terastallization. After the player obtains a random Meza Tag from the machine, they can choose between two main game modes, "Battle and Catch!" and "Catch Now!". If the player chooses the "Battle and Catch!" game mode, they are allowed to pick between three random areas, with each area containing two out of three random Boss Pokémon. Boss Pokémon can either be Star or Superstar Pokémon. After selecting an area, one out of the two possible Boss Pokémon that may appear in the area will appear, along with two weaker Pokémon. The player then engages in a battle with the wild Pokémon, with each side having three tries. If the player is lucky, a co-op Special Tag Battle featuring a guaranteed Superstar Pokémon may be unlocked. Type advantages matter, but the most important aspect is luck... or good timing. Players have to stop a roulette to determine the strength of their attack, as well as their chances of catching the Pokémon in the end (if extra tokens/ coins are entered into the machine). After the battle ends, the player is then taken to the "Catch Now!" game mode. If the player chooses the "Catch Now!" game mode, they are allowed to throw Quick Balls (each throw costing tokens/coins) at random bushes to catch random Pokémon. All players, no matter what game mode they are playing, can only get up to five Pokémon (Meza Tags) per round. Alright, enough yapping. What's the AU about? "Pokémon Mezastar: Chapter:Almach", or simply "Chapter:Almach", is an AU that happens during the time when Nic (my Trainersona) and her rival André were studying at Motostoke College... with a few minor changes due to the introduction of Meza Tag Battling in Galar and other regions. Unlike what happened in canon lore, "Chapter:Almach" Nic did not take up performing and instead focused more on Pokémon research, as "Chapter:Almach" André never took up performing due to him already being a young celebrity in Galar. Nic also did not have any Pokémon on her team because she was too anxious about interacting with Pokémon, and was thus quite unpopular among other students. Despite André being a star student in front of the school faculty, he would constantly try to bully Nic by claiming that he wanted to hang out with her... which would often lead to Nic being teased by him (and, in even worse, scenarios, splashed with Water-type moves with his main Pokemon, Inteleon). Soon, items known as Meza Tags were introduced on campus, which promoted a different method of battling with the help of a cuff-like device known as a Meza Band.

Have any of you heard about this obscure Pokémon arcade game called Pokémon Mezastar? It's just been released in my home region earlier this month, and I've been obsessed with it for the past week despite not being able to play it yet.

To those who don't know who I am: Hi, I'm Nic! I just got back into the Pokémon fandom after a hiatus of what seemed like an eternity!

Artwork of a Pokémon OC called Nic Thulium. Her pronouns are she/they, her age is around 15-20 depending on the arc (as of the timeskip that I'm working on, she is 22), she is a performer and Pokémon researcher, and her roster consists of the following: Kilowattrel, Talonflame, Cofagrigus, Deoxys, Tsareena, Bisharp, Cramorant and Amped Form Toxtricity. Her roster switches from time to time depending on her mood as well as the conditions of her Pokémon. Backstory/Lore 1/2: Nic was born in Alola to two elite Team Plasma Grunts, Lant and Ceri. They neglected her ever since she was born due to reasons such as having to keep their jobs or in fear of Ghetsis finding out about their child (as Ghetsis did not like the idea of them having to leave him for someone else). This led to the Island Guardian of Melemele taking on the duty to take care of her until she grew up healthy and strong. This quickly led to her parents finding out about the Island Guardian's relationship with her, and they attempted to distance the two by taking Nic and moving to Hoenn for a few years. This was soon proven to be ineffective. Even when Nic was old enough to start the Island Challenge, she was only allowed to battle with her starter Pokémon due to strict restrictions set by her parents. It was only after she completed the Challenge that she obtained Czia, her first caught Pokémon, in secret. After that, she also temporarily joined the Aether Foundation in their project to combat against Ultra Beasts as an excuse to distance herself from her parents. She ended up befriending most of the Ultra Beasts that she had met instead of defeating them. Backstory/Lore 2/2: Eventually, she set on a journey to Galar to further distance herself from those two horrible people. She attended an academy in Motostoke and met André, a fellow student and performer who introduced her to the performing arts. She quickly gained an interest in rock and metal music and began to take on the path to become a casual rock performer, though her main interest was in Pokémon research. Balancing her two interests, she had to go on several trips across other regions, such as Unova, Kalos and even Paldea, meeting other famous people and obtaining new members of her Pokémon team along the way. What she didn't know was that she was also becoming famous as a performer herself, and André was starting to become jealous of her for who she was... After André had caused a major incident in Galar that almost caused the destruction of the region yet again, she finally realized André's true intentions and (almost) never forgave him for what he did to her, her teammates and the entirety of Galar. It took a long time for her and her team to recover from the incident, and it even led to Nic quitting her career as a performer.
