An interior photo of Holy Name Cathedral in downtown Chicago, IL. It is the seat of the diocese and home to the Cardinal. The image is taken near the back on the main aisle. It showcases the patterned floor, wood pews, marble columns, and the spired wood ceiling. In view is also the centerpiece of the ceiling the IHS with a stylized cross across the h. This represents the Holy Name of Jesus. Centered in the image is the unique crucifix that hangs in the Cathedral. It is the Resurrection Crucifix. Instead of showing Christ nailed and pierced with a crown of thorns, it shows him whole and resurrected. Christ appears to be floating within the cross. Also because of the carvers marks, it appears as though rays of light are coming from a resurrected Christ. Absolutely stunning.
