just trying to take up as little space as possible
yeah, they really meant it when they called it preview. if you try and do anything other than preview documents it will kick and scream. you're not supposed to "edit" things, at best you may unlock the ability to "markup" if you click the correct obscure icon. excellent ocr though

Good job waiting; vram price explosion means you should pull the trigger now or be prepared to wait another year. You can actually find midrange cards for MSRP now if that’s what you’re looking for!

@mikecaulfield.bsky.social has done good work improving the zero-shot fact checking performance of models with search using a system prompt leveraging the SIFT framework. It’s a lighter touch than the curated RAG approach and works for novel claims! mikecaulfield.substack.com/p/sift-for-a...

Many motherboards have a bios flashback feature that lets you install bios off a USB even without a CPU. If yours doesn’t you’re stuck with reinstalling the old CPU and updating bios that way

You literally cannot find a better commuter for the price well done well done

I saw a version with two unders! They must have switched it and then switched it back; there was a battle in the headline booth and courage won

If only they had had the courage. “He finished under three hours and a false name” is worthy of a noir monologue

4.6 directly under Berkeley according to the MyShake app, which alerted me exactly one comic beat after the shaking stopped. That said I still highly recommend it

You can get pretty good passive noise cancelling with foam eartips/thick earpads.
That said, I’m a nerd about this stuff and I can’t tell the difference between Bluetooth and wired audio quality. The only place it still matters is latency.

This looks kinda like a species of sowbug— isopods in the same family as pillbugs and woodlice. You can tell because it’s flattish and has those twin tails (uropods) at the back. If it can’t roll into a ball then I’d be pretty sure. They’re cute and some people keep them as pets.

This brand is one of the originals that bet on the early studies and now they’re ready to get in on FSA money. They’re probably also trying to parlay their history and reputation into making their masks a consumer status symbol, which is why they’re charging three to five times as much

The body of evidence in favor of red light therapy for skin renewal/hair growth reached some tipping point a few years ago and after spas started buying the first boutique light panels for thousands of dollars every factory that could glue LEDs to molded plastic wanted a slice of the pie

IEMs: the Moondrop Chu 2 and Tangzu Wan’er have better tonality than most earbuds on the market, and going up a price bracket the Truthear Pure will out-resolve them too.

Headphones: commuters are limited by being closed back—the Shure SRH440 or 840 are good options along the lines of the above.

I wouldn’t mind regulated image generation; you need a license to manufacture explosives or cars or bridges or all sorts of things that can help or harm a lot of people at once. The issue is that image models are math and math is really easy to mass produce and impossible to regulate

Car exhaust is largely PM 2.5 and NYC has urban freeways everywhere; I don’t know anything about York but everywhere that’s not London scans to me like rolling hills of sheep or whatever

Wait, order of operations and relative magnitude matters a lot here. Can a sufficient price overcome a negative narrative? Are certain people impervious to everything except narrative?
