HMG has just gone into a "preferential deal" with Microsoft - AI bundled in with Azure and Office. I expect HMG thinks that will solve that problem (without thought to the others it will cause) - even if the NHS and education can't afford it

The civil service is being put to the fore. In theory a good idea. Show leadership. But HMG managed to get hooked and horribly locked in into public cloud based on a few swigs of the Koolaid and ill equipped procurement. It needs to learn lessons - and fast. You can't separate AI from Compute.

Indeed. Although to be fair to the NHS, it wasn't that long ago that I asked my very long established bank to lift a standard parameter. Battled with the Bot for what felt like an age and finally got a human. Their one and only suggestion? Fax us.
