The Naked Light by Bridget Collins.
Loved this historical folk horror, underpinned by a love story and where the darkness rising in a quaint village makes a beautiful heartbreaking metaphor for the unthinkable terrors of the Great War.

@jocallaghankat.bsky.social Raced through HUMAN REMAINS, the third instalment in the Kat Frank and AI detective Aide Lock series. Callaghan makes you love all her characters, which leads to some tense and emotional moments! And after THAT ending, I’m now eagerly awaiting the fourth instalment. 👀

Absolutely loved loved loved this smart and beautifully written page turner by Nicci Cloke, in which a young woman is accused of poisoning four men at a private members club - her story told by five men who question whether they ever really knew her. Just brilliant! A perfect summer read #amreading

I've got some edits to finish and then I am leaping into this beauty! Just out this week, HER MANY FACES, by Nicci Cloke, an incredibly talented writer. I know as soon as I start this thriller that'll be it until I turn the last page!

Very much enjoyed this Vampyre detective story set in a snowy Alaskan town. (Great way to cool down. 🧊🤣) Could absolutely see this as a cracking mini series. The Gathering by @cjtudor.bsky.social #amreadinghorror #amreading #booksbooksbooks #vampirebooks #vampirefiction #horrorfiction #cjtudor

A recent fave from my spooky summer reads: The House in the Pines by Ana Reyes. In this dread-filled mystery, Maya is forced to face what really happened to her best friend 7 years before. A story about an entrancing dangerous man, the lure of escapism, and how far we'll go in our search for home.

Bookworm summer is going well so far. 🌞 Now...which of these should I read next? 🤔

Abigail Dean is such an incredible writer! I loved Day One and her latest, The Death of Us, does not disappoint. A dark, astute, heartbreaking but also ultimately optimistic novel about a couple who are subject to a home invasion and whether love can survive an unimaginable horror.
