It's not like some people hadn't suggested to do this when a) interest rates were below zero, b) there was a collapse in construction activity in southern Europe, so firms had capacity, and c) you could still do some of that without having to close bridges, tracks etc. completely.

This is great reporting... and honestly, every single time I try to work out how something confusing works in London (and probably therefore the UK) then to misquote Super Hans, "the secret ingredient is fraud".

Sparen beim ÖRR, ja, gern. Aber phoenix wegrationalisieren? Wo das politische Geschehen begleitet wird? Nach letzter Woche sollte klar sein: keine gute Idee! Allein am Freitag wurde 10 Stunden am Stück live berichtet. Ich mache nie bei Petitionen mit. Aber hier gehöre ich zu den Erstunterzeichnern.
