Mario Odyssey was so good because it perfected the 3D platforming Mario is known for. DK Bananza has some of that, but it's not emphasized because the game is more built around smashing terrain, which is a unique idea that's new, but all I'm really doing is mindlessly mashing buttons.

Like I've been begging these guys for a new 3D Donkey Kong since I was a kid, I would have given up my first born for it, was gonna be a cosmic event for me but it's too late because I'm more hype that those drunk 40 year old ladies laughed at my joke the other day.
