Journalist Simon Townsend, who sadly died two days ago, was an incredibly brave and tireless activist against the Vietnam War & conscription. I wrote a little about some of his amazing work here (more in my book about quiet protest in NSW out next year). Vale.
When Simon Townsend was a fledgling journalist in his early 20s, he fought fearlessly against the draft and was imprisoned twice for his pacifist beliefs.
Remembering Simon Townsend as a conscientious objector and fearless anti-Vietnam War activist

Ah, magic! North Americans will be able to get this wonderful novella next year via @transitbooks.bsky.social: Antigone Kefala was a (deep breath) ethnically Greek Romanian cum Australian via refugee camps, writing in English, her 4th language. This book is, inevitably, out of print in Australia.
