Front End Developer. I like to post terrible UX and a11y I find on websites.
I've been attempting to read text on my county library's website and wondering why it's so tiny. Turns out it's been hard coded to be 15px, but on my computer 18px is a readable size. I feel like not using px for font sizing has been pretty basic for years, why is it so hard? #ux

I'd like to be able to use this website, but there's an overlay over the whole thing, so I can't click on anything, not even the cookie preferences. #ux

But my name only has three letters.

Thanks, US Open app for making the worst cookie popup even harder to scroll through and turn everything off (the harder places make it to decline the cookies the more determined I am to decline them). #ux

PayPal's UX for sending money is so awful it's taken me days to discover, by accident, how to put the amount in. I didn't even realise it was an input and when I did I couldn't work out how to delete the amount already in there. Turns out you just type.

It's very hard to read the text when the navigation is covering it like this. #ux

The text on that button is not quite right

Something's gone wrong with this menu... #ux

This looks a lot like a link. It is not. #ux

I know I have my font size turned up, but that's still no excuse. #ux

I found a link. Which goes to the current page. And has no text... #ux

But none of this is actually in italics... #ux

Massive fail on this site: although I have reduced motion turned on, the ticker keeps moving. And it moves so fast I can't even read what it says! The only way I know that it says the same thing is because it was still while the page loaded. Which begs the question, why does it need to move? #a11y

I did want to get to these menu items, but I don't know how to (I tried the keyboard, but there were no focus states and the menu never seemed to open at any point)

It’s a good thing I didn’t want to see too much of this screen.

There is a link after this text that says "Click here to login" it's just in a very dark colour on black.

But you told me to read the meter so my next bill will not be estimated!
January 22, 2025 at 5:31 PM
I assume there are some buttons so I can close this pop-up and actually use the site, but I can’t scroll to them
January 8, 2025 at 8:29 AM
Why is this focusable? #a11y

Hmm...
December 25, 2024 at 3:51 PM
It’s fine, I didn’t need to read the ends of the words on the right of the screen.
December 24, 2024 at 6:59 AM
Entering my meter reading and I think I'm focused on the submit button, but there's no visual way to tell. And this site is an improvement over the older one where you couldn't navigate with the keyboard at all...

It seems like every time I have to do something with done third party code I find they’ve used floats for layout (or worse, floats in a table!). Why are people still using float’s for layouts in 2024 and get away with selling it? #css

I imagine the buttons to save my cookie settings are below the checkboxes. But I can only scroll the page, not the cookie pop-up.
December 12, 2024 at 10:25 AM
I know companies want me to accept cookies (which I never will) but making the non-accept buttons unreadable is taking the piss.
