I should also add for the record that the “modern AAA design sensibilities” in question are not pronouns and minorities! Trans folk belong in games!
I recall reading that DMCVs director wondered before release if there was still room in the gaming market for a game like this. The fact that they held true to the spirit of DMC in spite of the pressure to cater to modern AAA design sensibilities is what made this game special to me.
