My concern is if being 'against' HS2 is taken to mean being against all transport infrastructure. Being an HS2 sceptic is a legitimate position but I agree that those of us who are should be challenged on whether we would accept an alternative that would resolve the issue of capacity.

@jonnelledge.bsky.social do I need to fuck off if I also think public transport infrastructure is good but that HS2 will do very little to improve it.

Palace in 14th? What are you thinking? Please name in precise detail the 13 teams that will be better than Palace next season. I am close to posting a video of me trying to burn my ticket for the live show.

Yes, yes and yes. And very often managers in the same organisation can't even agree on what skills they need - and when you ask them they say something like 'commercial awareness' or 'excel'.

I cried again when I re-watched it yesterday. I hope I never stop feeling like this.

Disagree. Crystal Palace have been in the PL for longer, have finished above Brighton every season bar one since 2017/18 and have never topped the European net spend table as Brighton did last season. Brighton are well run but CPFC are a far better example of a small club achieving sustained success

Thank you - I am less sad now. Great article btw as always.

I know this is tedious but I can't help myself, 'Fulham, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Brighton, Brentford: these are excellent teams'. Crystal Palace are in the semi-final of the FA Cup (having beaten Fulham) and are pretty much the form team in the League. I am sad we are not on this list.

Because they don’t want them because they aren’t really freedoms. More freedom in simply using nationally agreed pay scales to focus on other issues like quality of teaching.

But how do they make the argument? What does that involve? Isn't it more a case of 'I expect the government to explain policies in very simple terms, via the medium I prefer, at a time I prefer - and if I don't understand or agree then I am allowed to accuse them of not explaining it properly'.

I think they are more comparable now than maybe 10+ years because most secondaries have converted some time ago. The legislation just ensures that there is equality of standards in key areas(teachers pay and national curriculum) regardless of governance structures.

@hltco.bsky.social can I share an unrelated VAR frustration? How do they define a kick/pass? Is it when the ball first makes contact with the foot/head or when it stops touching the foot/head? Surely when there are frame by frame decisions this matters?
