Been doing exactly that this week. It's hard and ruthless and I *think* I have the solution. It'll be tighter and serve the story better as a result. Like Hilary Mantel's notion of getting out of your own way. Cut that part of the process and what's the point?

Oh, bloody hell. These poets who inspired me and made language and poetry accessible and filled it with meaning and soul. Fuck.
