One of the things I love about AWS is that the massive scale our services operate at means that we see so many different use cases. We use those insights to improve our services for *everyone*. Sometimes those improvements aren't immediately visible to our customers...

Part of these improvements came from us switching to Kinesis enhanced fan-out and KCL 2.0, but we also made some big performance improvements to the Ruler library that reduced latency for complex rules by 50ms at p99, and 400ms at p99.9.

The first part is true. The second part is half true. Nik’s AppSec bar is now so high that really he just needs to convince himself. If he manages to do that, the rest is easy.
