Lots of gaming talk here
Magnius from Tales of Symphonia. I loathed him and his stupid fight so much. I was taking a German class back when the game came out and my rage made me write multiple assignments about how much I despise him.

Look at this cute little painting from my beloved, @willowflora.bsky.social!

Did a little experiment with mixing my main paint colors on the page. I think it turned out nice, though the colors are really hard to photograph.

On the subject of making up backstories for random enemies:
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water got my most developed. There a few ghosts in the game that are "amalgamations" of multiple souls to explain why they keep turning up with the same model. I deemed this one "Drowned Rat Man"

More nostalgic games! This time, my first introduction to Yoshi. In a game that was given a whole new title outside of Japan even though it had nothing whatsoever to do with Tetris.

Tetris Attack (SNES, 1996)

Seriously, this confused me the first time I got my hands on real Tetris. (1/5)

Post your first RPG

Given when I got this, I probably got my copy off a box of Lucky Charms. This was one of many games included with cereal boxes back in the day. Some other famous examples include branded games like Chex Quest and regular PC games like Roller Coaster Tycoon and even the original Age of Empires.

More games from my childhood. Today, it's all about an educational game that I played for hours and hours, at least until I got my grubby hands on a copy of Morrowind.

The Amazon Trail 3rd Edition (1998, Windows, Mac)

While I included the box here, that's not how I or many others got this game.

First PS2 game that comes to mind?

Okami
December 20, 2024 at 1:31 AM
Since Okami is finally getting an official sequel, I want to talk about the weird spiritual successor that came out for the DS.

Okamiden (2011, Nintendo DS)

First off, it isn't by the same people. The people who made it made the Wii port, Ace Attorney Investigations 2, and Onimusha 2. (1/7)

Playing the Pokemon TCG Pocket game has me thinking of the original video game where you play a trading card game based on the Pokemon video games.

Pokemon Trading Card Game (1998 JP, 2000 worldwide)

This game is fun for sure, but that story is wild 🧵(1/5)

Next game to get a thread is an old favorite and another I had to battle a bit to get to work:

Grim Fandango (1998, Windows)

There is a remaster, but that was years away when I took my victory with getting Myst to play as the motivation to play this for myself.
December 7, 2024 at 4:00 AM
Time for another game thread! This time, it's Myst. I've played most of the games but we're only talking about the first game.

Myst (1993 Mac, 1994 Windows)

This game was so popular I distinctly remember playing it on both the family computer and my friend's computer somewhere around 1997.

Time for more threads about games I love. Today, Fatal Frame 2, but I will discuss the rest of the series briefly! Also, spoilers ahead since this is old.

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly (2003, PS2)

This is the American title, it's Zero in JP, Project Zero EU and AU.

The first game does end with you fighting the king of Genma/technically god. It tries to crush you like the ant, but jokes on Mr. Light God, that just makes our stabby guy stronger and he goes full Oni, which is awesome and he of course stabs the giant eye because what else would you do?
December 5, 2024 at 7:53 AM
More games I love. I love the whole series here. It will be touched on briefly, but a lot of this is all about:

Onimusha: Warlords (2001, PS2)

In this series, you okay as a warrior with powers granted by the Oni, fighting monsters known as Genma. And Oda Nobunaga, but we'll get to that.

Feeling very called out right now.

The game's goal is to make it through 5 worlds based on Ned's fears. Each has its own art style. At release, the game was so intensive that it had a version on the disk that removed cutscenes to save on disc space.

This game was so scary for a kid. Look at this.

Today's game from my past I have fond memories of!

Nightmare Ned (1997, PC)

While I had already played (and gave myself nightmares from) Resident Evil 2 by this point, this is the first "scary" game I tried to beat on my own.

So let's go over the game!

You know what? More game recommendations for games that stuck with me!

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and The Lost Ocean (GC, 2004)

This game does have a collection with the sequel/prequel but I don't have it yet so this is all about the original.

The game that changed so much for me.
December 1, 2024 at 5:27 AM
There are sequels, but at least the most recent ones for the 3DS don't really have much to do with what I loved about the GC original. It isn't easy to find the original game anymore, but give it a try if you get the chance. It's been my comfort game since 06 for a reason.

I played through Gen 1 + 2 many times with all the starters so this was tough.

I got these tiny 2" canvases and decided to make some mask + weapon combos for iconic slashers
This is my attempt at teeny #Ghostface

I used to run a hatchery on Flight Rising and my favorite part was making the pair cards. I still like some of the backgrounds I did. The insects were a texture in the art program but this still turned out nice.

#mothman time. I may play with this more later
