#bookpost - I initially joined the crowdfunder for this one a couple of years back. Great to see it come to fruition, and a story that should be told loudly and beyond the city of Hull...

No photos from the stage, but an absolute treat to go deep into the 'Layer Cake' world with JJ Connolly last night at @hulllibraries.bsky.social. The film still crackles and pops on screen 😎

#BookPost - always a treat to have a new one from @sarahhilary.bsky.social. 'The Drowning Pool' is a return to the police novel for Sarah and set in The Peak District. Sounds amazing. In the shops next Spring.

Spent plenty of time on trains of late, so here are some random book recs ...

It's a new one from Carl Hiaasen... Florida, corrupt politicians, dumb far-right activists and justice being served...

Jake Arnott's back with a razor sharp contemporary thriller taking us into the dark heart of London.

Feeding the child's new interest in theatre with a trip to Hull Truck Theatre's 'Grow Festival' and a script in hand reading of new work, 'Can We Be Friends?'. Shaping up nicely and interesting to follow its journey towards full production 👊

I was invited to visit a Reading Retreat in this amazing building in Great Limber, Lincolnshire, earlier this week.

It was excellent to talk books with the participants, and eat like a king for the evening 😊

A holiday consisting of reading? Sign me up! 📚

This bunch... from only having 12 players in the summer wanting to play for the team, and then losing two teammates with broken bones during the season, the child and her mates have stuck at it and finally scooped the league title today 👊⚽️

Wonderful evening with The Silent Book Club, Hull. I also got to eat in Furley and co beforehand and enjoy an hour's silent reading after the event. May have peaked now... 📚
