Saturday listening. Steve Gunn - Daylight Daylight.

Gunn has already released 2 great records this year - his beautiful ambient album Music for Writers and his phenomenal impro-album with Gunn-Truscinski Duo called Flam. Since I have mostly been drawn towards the instrumental part of his output...

Monday listening. Auburn Lull - Begin Civil Twilight.

Finally sourced a copy of this. An addition to my collection that was actually needed. Perfect music for this season of the year.

Evening listening. Mauve Sideshow - Mauve Sideshow. Spacey avant-new age. Lynchian, slightly lunatic and beautiful/alluring.

Felt kind of numb, so I made a short and quickly composed guitar piece...just to do something.

I was just listening back to some old stuff. This one came out in November 2011. I think it was based on a jam, where all the parts were there in improvised form & then we refined it & reworked some of the parts. Groovy psych/kraut/whatever. Named after this day.

Music for a Saturday afternoon. Steve Tibbetts - Alien Lounge...Live 1987.

More Steve Tibbetts. I guess this is a bootleg, but nontheless an essential documentation of how Tibbetts and co. sounded live in the late 1980s.

Friday listening. Steve Tibbetts- Close. A new album from Steve Tibbetts is a big thing in my world. Foremost because it doesn't happen everyday - last album came out in 2018, but also because his music means something special to me.

Morning listening. Natural Information Society - Perseverance Flow
This is obviously the cover art of the year. Utterly beautiful & a piece of art itself. The music is also up there with the best, cause no one really does what Natural Information Society do & not at all at that level. Just sublime.

Here is an LP I've been digging a lot lately. Rafael Toral's "Traveling Light". Ironically I couldn't get a good photo of it here because of...well, the light. If you ever dreamed of hearing well-known jazz standards stretched out to seemingly eternal and beautiful alien-like ambiences...

On my first listen & my expectations are both high & somehow not clear, since I can't really separate my fan excitement from the listening experience. No, that's not true - while not completely blown away on my first listen, I think this could potentially grow over time and with each listen.

I like being alone, although it's weird sometimes. Feels like you can get lost in time when you have a couple of days off. Listening to music most of the time, going for a walk, cleaning the apartment, running, spending too much time online, buying records ect...

Sunday grooves.Well, the opening track is indeed dangerously & infectiously groovy. No wonder since Jack DeJohnette who sadly passed away one week ago is the one handling the drums on this album. Damn, it's almost too good! One of the few albums that can actually get me into the act of air-drumming.

Evening listening. Jandek - "The Wizards Hour".I never thought Jandek's music was pretentious, pointless, bad or without structure. Not even mysterious in the weird sense. There is a myth to the persona & the records yes,but the point is not to get stuck in that, but to move on like the discography,
