OK, so this is an unintentionally abstract pic of Mclusky's rollicking show at Chalk in Brighton last night, but why spend time on your camera phone when a gig is so much fun? Lovely stuff @shitrock.bsky.social

Next up for The Landline is our end-of-year bash at the marvellous Finsbury, Manor House on Friday 12 December, when we'll be playing the best of 90s indie. And this one's free entry @thelandlineband.bsky.social

Gwenno enveloped by smoke on the enormous stage of Earth Hackney on Friday, when she had the audience singing in Cornish about cheese. Probably a first for Dalston

At Kentish Town Forum last night to see The Wedding Present on their 40th anniversary tour and enjoyed Dave Gedge's warp-speed-Nile-Rodgers guitar chops and yearning indie pop as much as i did 35 years ago. Some prime new songs to check out too

Tomorrow night The Landline are topping the bill at the Dublin Castle with a set of nailed-on 90s indie bangers. Please join us @thelandlineband.bsky.social

Youth Sector were a tonic at @thelexingtonlondon.bsky.social last night, tambourine-shaking sax player (at the same time) and superb bassist included

Harker under the Haggerston railway arches this week, with my friend and former bandmate Louis on guitar. Next up for them is a US tour. Good luck @hrkruk.bsky.social

Great crowd down at the Hope & Anchor for our @thelandlineband.bsky.social gig on Saturday. Love playing that venue

Filled my belly at the Brick Lane Curry Festival on Saturday, another good London event enjoyed by people from all over the world and yet more proof that immigration has been anything but 'ruinous' to the country, whatever crap that death-breathed toff Farage may spout

Next call for The Landline is the famed Hope & Anchor on Islington's Upper St, on Sat 20th Sept. We'll be debuting a couple of slightly leftfield new song picks @thelandlineband.bsky.social

Twas a fine way to spend Sunday afternoon, in the renowned surrounds of the Dublin Castle with @thelandlineband.bsky.social. It seemed like our Oasis special was enjoyed by all who came, Wembley-bound or otherwise

Really enjoyed Steam Down's hyper-energy rootsy mashup at the Rhythm & Taste festival on Greenwich peninsula this wknd, which actually turned out to be a pretty cool event all round

It was a pleasure to play with The Landline at a private party at the legendary 606 Club in Chelsea last weekend. Some brilliant bassists have plugged into the vintage house amp before i came along to make a right racket

Enjoyed rockin' the suburbs with @thelandlineband.bsky.social at the Brentham Club in Ealing last night. Big shout out to all who came along

Very strong line-up in the latest edition of @bigissue.com: Jarvis; Zack Polanski; Alex Scott; Guz Khan; and even Argyle legend Jack Leslie makes an appearance

Next up for The Landline is a return to Camden's Dublin Castle next Saturday, 17 May, where we top off a four-band bill. Playing there is always loadsa fun! @thelandlineband.bsky.social

The versatile narrative songwriting of Ned Ashcroft and his excellent band impressed at The Finsbury on Saturday, as did Matilda Rowe's terrific voice

Made it back to Coles Park yesterday where an enjoyable 2-0 win for Haringey Boro means they still have a chance of avoiding the drop. Really hope that's the case as, what with Argyle's travails, i could do without a pair of relegations this season!

Was a fun night playing with The Landline at The Gunners on Sat, bringing some live tuneage into the heart of N5. Cheers to all who came along @thelandlineband.bsky.social

Sad to hear about the fire at Plymouth's old Astoria club yesterday. I'm sure it has long been derelict, like much of Union Street, but many fun nights were had in this tiny upstairs club in the 90s

A lot to like about Berthaju, over from Rotterdam at The Gunners last night. They did lean a little on the backing tracks at times but their pop-punk songs are packed with hooks

Seems like a particularly good time to drink Gaza Cola. Design is pretty tasty too
February 5, 2025 at 1:38 PM
The Bengali-style dhal bhajis they sell at The Gunners pub N5 now are pretty tremendous. Matchday specials, i believe
January 22, 2025 at 2:36 PM
Friday night with The Landline. Always tremendous to play The Finsbury, where the sound quality and general vibe are hard to beat at any venue of its size in London
