Indeed. It’s purely self-preservation over the best interests of the nation; other, better systems exist but they would involve things like sharing power.

It is truly astounding (and not limited to the US) how after a period of political chaos the theoretical grown-ups get back in office and then… don’t fix the underlying problem which let the populist extremists without a plan be elected in the first place.

The skeptic in me would say they didn’t do it until now so they had a bone to throw when they inevitably had to increase taxes.

More than once I’ve pulled into a service station on 10% and the car is on 85% or similar by the time I’ve managed to use the bathroom and grab a coffee.

The thing is, it’s easy to explain why Reform’s policies don’t make sense and don’t work.
If Labour wanted to discredit the Green Party then all they have to do is explain why the policies won’t work, because that’s what people on the left actually care about.
