Dirty Lane by All Stretton? @gardeningwitch.bsky.social was there with Monty dog this morning but couldn't make it round the usual loop.

She might go for a nice walk in the countryside to chill out a bit. Not round here though, black sheep everywhere today and hardly any white ones.

But here in UK it is National Crisp Sandwich Day. You guys are missing out on this gourmet experience.

@gardeningwitch.bsky.social has excelled herself for the Little & Large tomatoes this year. 731g vs. 2g.

A rather grey, drizzly day but the morning dog walk up the Batch Valley #Shropshire always has something colourful to enjoy.

Spotted a toad while putting the bin out for collection this evening. I saw a remarkable resemblance to someone in the news.

Found a tiny little toad this morning on my walk with Monty dog under Novers Hill in #Shropshire. Size of my thumbnail. Might have been a prince of course but I didn't kiss it to find out. Would have been rude to as I hadn't brushed my teeth yet.

Missed 'em. Those #Shropshire faeries are really tricky to catch and flew off just as I was lining up the perfect shot this morning.

Racing again this week, for Paramount Cycle Racing Team. 10 miles TT. First time out on a 1970s Harry Quinn I have restored. Lovely to ride but not as fast as modern bikes (and younger riders). Came last but loved it.

Lawful protest or terrorists blocking the road?

Actually was a theatre troupe who travelled with a LeJog ride I did in 1990. The angry scarecrows in a field on the Wenlock Edge and the alien tourists inspecting our campsite in Upton on Severn were some other memorable acts.

Was representing a candidate outside a polling station (Atcham, #Shropshire)
this morning. So quiet. Three or four voters in a couple of hours. Maybe lots of postal votes? I'll be at the count tomorrow. Will be interesting to see the turnout. Looks like every vote could really make a difference.

Up at 5:30 to go racing for Paramount CRT. The Mid Shropshire Wheelers 25 miles Time Trial. Didn't come last.

Jonathan's Rock above the Batch Valley in #Shropshire this morning. Found a new (to me) track up there from the gully, which is is getting a bit easier to navigate as the terrain dries out. Starting to see a few more lambs up on top.

BBC Radio 4's Any Questions in the village hall at All Stretton in the #Shropshire Hills this evening was good. I certainly didn't agree with some points made but it's important that this kind of debate can happen here.

Wild ponies on Novers Hill above All Stretton. There are one or two new lambs about too but we didn't see any today.

To mark #ShropshireDay I cooked up a Shropshire Fidget Pie. @gardeningwitch.bsky.social had second helpings so I think it was OK.

Was going to do some decorating but Monty Dog took over so I shall have a beer instead.

Started my cycling time trial season as usual with the Ely & District CC Hardriders 25. The lane along the Hundred Foot Drain doesn't get any less rough but at least there was a bit of a tail wind along there this year. Was riding for Paramount Cycle Racing Team. Photo courtesy Davey Jones.

Ponies were grazing rather lower down than usual on the Long Mynd today. Some weather coming in maybe?

A cold, grey day but the old oak tree on Novers Hill didn't seem to mind and the viburnum (?) was going for it anyway.
January 19, 2025 at 10:33 AM
A bit slushy in the village earlier this morning but quite attractive a little way up the valley. Hopefully it will all be gone soon though and not hang around for days.

"They said you was high classed. Well, that was just a lie. You ain't nothing but a hound dog ..."

Monty is not impressed with Elvis night here.

Out walking with Monty Dog this morning it was a beautiful sunrise over Caer Caradoc looking from Novers Hill above All Stretton.

Was proper foggy up around Ragleth Hill this afternoon on my bicycle though. No views at all, just some sheep lurking in the gloom.

Morning all. Hope everyone recovering from any festive excess.

It's a beautiful morning here. Sun rising over Caer Caradoc and starting to burn off the fog in the Stretton Gap.
