I write a lot of my songs when walking. The constant beat is perfect for working out the right balance for lyrics.
How do you cope with songs that are not in an even time? 3/4 or 6/8 are tricky. Putting the beat on every second or fourth step can work. Skiping is not the answer. What do you do?
