Vaccines are literally the most widely studied medical intervention ever.
On the day of RFK’s confirmation of the highest public health office in the United States, I mourn for the public health in this country. He was confirmed despite being a conspiracy theorist, unqualified, and having lied on multiple occasions during his confirmation hearings. He has received millions in payment for running the largest anti-vaccine content creation outfit in the world. Vaccines are literally the most widely studied medical intervention ever so a drug-addict celebrity riding the coattails of his family name despite them all condemning his views is not where I'm going to be getting any advice from. I say this not to continue the handwringing about political matters but because any increase in vaccine hesitancy will have ripple effects starting with children getting measles which is already seen due to the post-Covid decline in vaccination rates. It is normal for parents to ask visitors, especially in a child's the first year of their life, that they be up to date on their vaccines. There is no reasonable doctors that would recommend being around an under-vaccinated person much less and unvaccinated child or person be around your child. I am wary of anyone that believes RFK has any ground to stand on. He has been willfully ignorant and culpable in multiple deaths. His opinions on improving food quality and obesity are widely shared in the public health community already and someone with actual expertise does not carry the baggage of denying the most basic heath preventions and denial of germ theory. Unfortunately, it now falls into individuals hands even more when deciding who to associate with. If you decide not to vaccinate yourself or your kids you have the right to do so as you always have but the rest of us have the right to know so please do not assume that anyone is ok with being in contact with you and do not be surprised when you are asked directly about this status and denied participation.
