This isn’t a fair comparison because there’s 100 senators but 1 VP. “The senate” may produce more presidents than “the vice presidency” (I have no idea) but “any given one senate seat” will be a much much lower probability

Fair enough. It took me a bit of time to update my priors on this one, particularly since there was a more obviously pro-housing candidate (Lander) in the primary. But I feel that Zohran ramped up his pro-housing messaging significantly in the general. Could just be my bubble, though.

That would explain the hesitance from some YIMBY folks at first

Hasn’t he shifted his stances significantly toward pro-housing policy? I believe he said this explicitly in an interview when asked what he has learned or changed an opinion on - that he has become more aware of the need for incentivizing private development as one lever for building more homes

Wondering the same as a heavy cursor user (pretty exclusively use Claude within it). Added wrinkle of being a data scientist instead of a SWE.

I also now can turn around publication quality plots, including the data manipulation needed to do so, in 45 seconds. It’s crazy

I was not a big believer until I recently used Cursor to implement some methods from academic papers from scratch (I am a data scientist). Would’ve taken me a month, since I’m a bad coder, took me 1-2 days.

Yep

I call them TIE fighter plots, I think it’s a pretty common thing!

Sure, granted, but I think your point was that the bolsheviks didn’t say “fuck that we’re building something new” but rather co-opted the SR position. My counterpoint is that they didn’t actually implement anything from that program, so the original critique holds

I wonder if Zinoviev’s opposition to the timing of the October revolution would have always been used against him. Bukharin strikes me as far more likely

Copying the program, then criminalizing the party that originally wrote the program, then not implementing the program, isn’t exactly consistent with what the SRs were proposing though
