1. Be a Japanese game music producer.
2. Create a banger of a jungle track for a racing game you're working on.
3. Use it solely for the skippable instant replays.

*sigh* I miss the music of the early PS days.

Digging up TV from the recent past can yield odd finds. Notably Moonbeam City, a forgotten animated sitcom from 2015 that combined Miami Vice, a Patrick Nagel art style and Archer-esque humour into 10 absurd but mostly engaging episodes.

Review below!

REVIEW: Moonbeam City
Comedy Central's short-lived animated 80s parody still has bang for its buck, despite too much reliance on Archer-esque humour.

Trying to write well on the side of a full-time coding job that takes up most of your mental energy each day is daunting. I have no idea how those coders with well-maintained blogs do it, but they have my awe and respect.

Jonathan Joss was Comanche and Apache and an openly gay actor.

He was murdered while looking at the remains of his dogs at his own house that was burnt down.

The killer yelled homophobic slurs before shooting him.

This is the real world consequences of the hatred that the right commodifies

The space opera franchise that is Macross is one of the most beloved anime series’ of all time. 'Do You Remember Love?', the feature-length movie of the original TV series, got a new 4k blu-ray in Japan earlier this year.

Does it still stand as an all-time classic? You betcha. tinyurl.com/3k75jwyj
REVIEW - Macross: Do You Remember Love?
Japan's most iconic space opera saga scintillates in the 21st century thanks to a spectacular 4k remaster and an enduring tale of love and war.

There are those who will tell you that Sega Rally Championship is overrated. Those people are not to be trusted. This game whipped so hard in 1995 that it rid Japan of the "taboo" of rally racers, brought realistic driving on different surfaces to the fore of racer design, *and* still rules today.

For my indie game this weekend, I'll be playing Turbo Dismount 2 by Secret Exit / Parta Games.

In a saluted return for the 'Dismount' series, you score points by throwing human mannequins into stunts that, through your control, go horribly wrong.

The more brutal the crash, the higher the score!

Very late thoughts on yesterday's Nintendo Direct, and the Switch 2:

- Mario Kart World looks good (KO / grand tour races)!
- Gamechat + GameShare are long overdue
- Really want to give the mouse mode a go
- Ooh, Duskbloods!
- Ooh, new Professor Layton game!
- Ugh. Pricing. Gonna wait til Xmas.

Got a tip-off from a friend about House of Protection, an electronic rock / punk band from right here in LA, and figured I'd keep on spreading the word.

We need music like this right now.

With a cast of 50+ planned, how on Earth are Marvel going to fit so many actors into Avengers: Doomsday without rushing the whole thing?

Hopeful it won't be a train wreck given the star power on board, but hell if it doesn't already seem like a logistics nightmare.

As an English football nut living in the States, I've grown an affinity over the years for the exploits of the USMNT - especially their 2002 and 1994 WC teams.

They may have been 'underdogs', but they certainly had talent.

Looking forward to the upcoming '94 doc!

OK, gonna throw this spicy bomb out there.

If you're fortunate enough to have disposable income, then right now it is your duty to use that income wisely. You have agency over how you spend it and you should own how you spend it.

Your decisions do, in fact, affect stock prices of big corporations.

Nice opinion piece from El Reg regarding the financial future of online publications.

It's not great that quality content on the 'free' Web is dying. But I'll take the Wikipedia / Patreon approach over ads and enshittified UX to get it any day of the week.

This weekend's Steam game of note is the brilliant monastic brewing sim that is Ale Abbey.

Train your team of medieval monks and nuns through the rigors of ale in a game that is clearly inspired by the Bullfrog 'Theme' series.

Well worth raising a glass to. Just keep the clergy off the sauce!

There's a lot of buzz about 'local first' software for the web. Not sure if it's the full 'future' as advertised here, but interesting benefits are there.

Besides, anything that means you don't have to write so many REST endpoints for the backend can't be all bad. ;)
