Goblin wrangler, dice roller. Forever DM (positive). Death is a concept invented by the jedi. I don't even know how to spell it.

Now I'm thinking about it, I did feel burning running D&D 5e. But that was because the system didn't suit the type of world I was trying to establish. I don't think shared authority would help.

The only bit that resonates with me is player engagement. I want them to try to remember stuff, make connections between data points, and most importantly: try to change stuff. I set up these blocks so you can knock them down, and the fun is seeing what happens when they do.
For me, anyway.

Discovery really is the key "pillar of play" for me. Without it the world feels flat and fake.

But that's just the kind of game I like. It's no better than anyone else's. Just interesting to dissect.

I wouldn't use any of these as-is in an All-Out game, but it's a fun brainstorming exercise to model different abilities in the rule set.

I've been thinking about this a while but now that my kid's birthday is a month out, I need to get the ball rolling for real.

I asked her if that interests her and she is interested. So I better get started!

So the goal is to repair the ship, and there are several parts missing. They need to replace a cable, get fuel, and maybe something else. Each is a mini game (a puzzle, a food related challenge, maybe a chemistry game, etc.). I'd narratively flavour the challenges to be like environmental hazards.

@kyonshi Whenever it's bad, I try to make healthy choices to mitigate the negative effects of my coffee intake. Once it's good again I can cut loose and make some unhealthy choices since I'm taking such good care of myself by drinking coffee.
Nice to know I can finally cut myself some slack again!

This all feels very childish somehow, but hell. Life is short and I know this brings me joy. I waste plenty of time on things I like less.
