I'm broadly sympathetic to what you are saying, but you need power to change the political system. To gain power, you need to win elections. There's no way around structural reform without winning in places like Iowa, Alaska, Ohio etc. How we do that is where things get really hard.

That's the thing. MAGA as a political identity is largely about being an asshole to liberals. Of course they wouldn't cut family off over politics, then they wouldn't have family members to be assholes to.
